A little something blue...

So you've heard the saying...'something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue and a silver sixpence in her shoe', now it may be a tradition that originated in the Victorian Era but that's not to say you can't have a modern take on it and the best 'something' you can have fun with is your something blue!

Whatever your style and whatever your personality there's so many ways of including this in your big day and I've listed 8 of my favourites below:

1 -Shoes

A blue and white combination has a timeless feel and the pop of blue from your shoe under your wedding dress is a fun way of incorporating the colour into your day. Not only that but a blue shoe is a great option to wear after your big day too!

2 -Jewellery

The perfect addition to your bridal look...the jewellery! This is a great way of including your something blue into your look whether this be with earrings, a necklace or a bracelet. If you're lucky enough to have a friend or family member with sapphire pieces this can double up as your something borrowed too!

3- Bridesmaids

They're your besties so why not have them be your symbol of love with blue bridesmaids dresses. This colour is flattering on all skin tones and lends itself well to different materials so you can be sure to find an option that works for you whole bridal party. This is a great one for the seasons too, in spring and summer fresh cornflower blues and porcelain tones work well whereas for autumnal and winter weddings think rich navy tones and slate blue shades.

4- Jackets

A super fun way of adding something blue is with a denim jacket. Perfect for cooler months they work as a great cover-up plus, you can wear it for all of the events in the run up to the wedding and your honeymoon! Make it super personal by choosing one that has your new surname or wedding date included.

5- Nails

This is a really subtle way of including the colour, you could go all out with blue nails all round or use selectively, maybe just on your ring finger for a super cute touch!

6- Bag

The perfect place to keep your lipstick for that all important make up for touch ups throughout the day, a bag is a great way to include something blue, perfect if you want something that you don't have on you at all times!

7- Bouquet

Flowers are a super easy way to add blue to your day, hydrangeas, forget-me-not, larkspur and hyacinths are all great florals to incorporate into your day. Ask your florist for seasonal blue flowers for inspiration. Or, if you're not a fan of adding this into your wedding colour scheme, bouquet ties are a great option too and add a subtle hint of the shade.

8- Gift

One for the bridal party, if you're looking for a unique take on a gift for the bride, gift them their something blue! This miniature gift box by Little Letters UK not only includes the blue but also old, new, borrowed & a six pence so ticks all of the boxes! My maid of honour gifted me with this on my wedding day and it was a really special touch and the personalisation makes it super unique to the bride! (There's just something so adorable about the miniature element of this!)
